Dogs Know

This morning we headed out to the Alta Trailhead in the Headlands, but it didn't last long. The dogs usually hit the trail running with their tails wagging straight up in the air, but not this morning. After about 5 minutes into the hike Turbie stood between my legs with her tail down. She then headed back to the truck with her tail down. She's a smart dog with a very keen nose, much more than Remo. I think she sensed danger and I didn't want to stick around and find out. There are a lot of coyotes in this area or there's always an occasional mountain lion siting. The dogs know best, so we left.

Next stop was the Corte Madera Wetlands and it was wet. All that rain made ponds in the areas we use to walk through...it was deep enough in some places for them to swim. Unbelievable all the rain we got in the past few weeks. I had a hard time find high ground for walking, but the dogs had a great time.

Finally, some sunshine. It was so nice to go out today and soak up some sun. We had a great time hiking in the Headlands this morning.

Happy New Year - Best of 2009 for the Red Waggers

The waggers had a lot of fun adventures in 2009. Turbie is now 17 months old and Remo is 13 months. We had a great time exploring new areas and we're looking forward to the New Year.

Enjoy our video of the waggers.

Corte Madera Open Space

We go to the CM open space a couple times a week. It's 5 minutes from our house, dog friendly, single track trails, fire roads, and open space for the dogs to run. We ran into 2 other Vizslas that we joined on their walk. The dogs were all having a great time together. Her youngest one was a 1 year old and I think the older one was 11 years. It's always fun to see other Vizslas and luckily I had my camera with me for some photos.

Snow Bound

We headed up to Tahoe for a few fun days in the snow. It snowed every day and it was a winter wonderland. We spent the mornings doing a short hike with the dogs and in the afternoon we took them cross country skiing. They love the snow! I called Remo the powder dog. Turbie did a helicopter our 2nd day out and ended up hurting her tail. She still had a good time, but her tail wasn't spinning in circles like it usually does. It certainly didn't help matters when Remo kept grabbing her tail and tackling her. Luckily, we all made it back in one piece. Last night when we left, it was a beautiful full moon.

Looking forward to another trip in the snow.

Christmas in Mill Valley

After a nice morning around the Christmas tree, we loaded up the dogs and headed out for a hike and to the beach. It was a pleasant 60 degrees and blue skies. We met our friends Kevin and Michelle and their dog Boon (Turbie's boyfriend).
Boon couldn't wait to get the hike over and hit the beach. It's really paradise where we live, to think this is right out our back door is amazing.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas - xxoo cm.

Merry Christmas & Happy Birthday Remo

Merry Christmas Everyone!

It's also Remo's birthday today and he's 1 year old. He was looking very handsome this morning.

We started off the morning with our stocking stuffers. Turbie & Remo got a lot of cool toys and doggie treats. They couldn't decided which toy to play with first. Turbie already pulled the nose off her snowman...she's a bad girl.

Stay tuned for our outdoor adventures later today. cm.
